“And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” – Mark 16:20
Who exactly is it that brings about the great things that happen because of the preaching of the word. Is it the preacher? Is it the person who believes and receives it? No. It is the Lord. The scripture states “the Lord working with them”.
Ministry is only fruitful if God is involved in it. In fact it might not be accurate to call it preaching or ministering if God is not involved in it. What is for sure is that only if God is involved in it will there be confirmation and signs following it.
Does this apply to our lives as well? I think so. How can we expect to walk in God’s best for us if He is not working with us? Does He want to work with us? Absolutely. But He will not force Himself into our lives, decisions and situations (Rev. 3:20). So we must ask ourselves this question. Do we want God to confirm our lives and decisions with signs i.e. His blessing and favor?
